  • Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a Resident Physician for the Ramón y Cajal Hospital of Madrid.
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (University of Alicante) (Grade Point Average: Excellent).

PROFESSIONAL CAREER:

  • Director of the Davó Institute at the Medimar International Hospital in Alicante, performing health-care (with particular focus on advanced implant surgery and dentofacial deformities) and teaching activities, as well as clinical research.
  • (2006 - 2008) - Coordinator of the Surgical Area for the Master's in Implant Surgery offered by the University of Murcia.
  • (2006) - Diploma of Advanced Studies in Biotechnology (University of Alicante.
  • (Since 1996) - Chief of the Oral, Maxillofacial and Implant Surgery Department at the Medimar International Hospital of Alicante.
  • 1995 - Assistant doctor for Maxillofacial Surgery at the General Hospital of Alicante.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITY:

  • Organized several educational training programs, both nationally and internationally, focusing on the topic of zygomatic implants.
    • (May 2010) - Modular Training on Advanced Oral Implant Surgery.
    • (May 2009) - Graftless Solution.
    • (February 2008) - International Training on the Zygoma.
    • (June 2007) - National Training on the Zygoma.
  • Close collaboration with the clinical research and training department of Nobel Biocare for general implant surgery and zigomatic implants.
  • Clinical residencies in different European hospitals, among those, at the Erasmus Hospital (Free University of Brussels, Belgium) and at the Umea University Hospital (Sweden).
  • Honorary Associate Professor at Miguel Hernández University (Department of Histology and Anatomy, School of Medicine).

Professional Development

MAIN AREAS OF INTEREST:

Guided surgery in terms of bone atrophy and rehabilitation of the atrophic maxilla and the impact of such therapies on quality of life associated with oral health (OHRQoL)

RESEARCH WORK:

  • Close collaboration with the clinical research and training department of Nobel Biocare for general implant surgery and zigomatic implants.
  • Clinical studies performed:
    • “Clinical evaluation of the immediate function of the NobelGuide TM Zygoma TiUniteTM concept implant”.
    • (2008 - 2009) - Performed an international and multi-centered joint study, together with a center in San Francisco       (under Edmond Bedrosian) and one in Philadelphia (under Dr. Balshy), under the direction of Professor Chantal Malevez (Free University of Brussels)

CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS:

Author of several presentations and printed material delivered at national and international conferences on implant surgery and craneomaxillofacial deformities, with special attention being brought to this year's participation in the Annual Osseo Meeting (American Academy of Osseointegration)
